 Tank T-72M1 has embodied the best traditions of the soviet and Russian tank building: powerful armament, low silhouette, low weight, high-level protection and reliability, minimum operating costs.Main battle tank T-72 (T-72M1) occupies a unique position in the row of tank technologies. It constitutes the main part of the tank fleets of many countries of the world. Its design and characteristics comply with the modern standards and make tank T-72M1 an ideal candidate for modernization.
The tank advanced technical concepts (arrangement, automatic loader of cab-free type situated in the least vulnerable part of the hull, tracks and suspension with a high carrying ability, etc.), aimed at a long-term life of the tank, made it possible to obtain the
quality changes in its combat characteristics without significant changes in the tank aspects in connection with the substantial progress in some branches of military equipment. Tanks T-72 have passed severe test of time and action in many regions of the world and with its high fire power and reliability proved to be among the most effective tanks of the world.
In the long years of pro-duction and improvement of tank T-72 Russia, its only designer and manufacturer, has accumulated great experience, the use of which permits to enhance the main aspects of the modernized tank: fire power, protection, mobility, controllability keeping the tank reliability and to make the tank technical level comparable to that of the tanks of the 4th generation. This was done thanks to the following:
- installation of the new fire control system with multi-channel
gunner’s sight, which provides delivery of combat fire at distant ranges at any time of the day;
- installation of the explosive reactive armour, which increases the tank protection against antitank means;
- installation of 1,000-hp diesel engine to enhance the tank maneuverability;
- installation of other options on the Customer’s demand.
The modernization offered was optimized as per criterion ”efficiency-cost”. This allows to make the combat efficiency of tanks T-72 at a twofold rate.
Nevertheless, the Customer may demand some additional or refuse separate non-interdependent elements of modernization.
On the Customer’s demand modernization may include the following:
- manufacture and joint testing of modernized tank T-72 prototype;
- modernization technology transfer on the license base;
- arrangement of production and supply of parts for modernization of tank in service;
- supply of training aids and simulators, qualified training.
